At sunset, she lands in the shallows among the reeds. The lapping waves and the gentle whistle of the shoreline shrubs rhythmically accompany the heron’s deliberate and graceful wading. Like an elegant diner, she dances in search of sustenance at the restaurant on the lake. The evening sun dims the day. It canopies the shoreline with an ambiance of dreams, shadows, and the peaceful music of the flora. The heron moves quite timidly, in an almost secretive way, her silver dress slightly trembling, as if she were suspecting some invisible observer nearby. Like in some ritualistic dance, she repeatedly puts her beak forward and then quickly retreats it. Then, suddenly, she takes flight like the secret lovers’ first kiss.
